Training and orientation is provided so they can respond to fires and other emergencies to assist but they WILL NOT be permitted to enter burning buildings. Participating as a Junior Firefighter can meet community service requirements. Westmoreland County Community College provides a tuition waiver for volunteer firefighters and there are programs to offer live-in space near various colleges around the country in return for volunteering as a firefighter at that station. Please call, e-mail or stop by for more information.
The Auxiliary of the Level Green Volunteer Fire Department is an organization affiliated with the LGVFD that assists by providing different levels of support. Not everyone has to respond to alarms to help firefighters protect the community. The Auxiliary provides valuable and needed assistance to make sure the truck rolls when the alarm sounds. The members assist the fire department by raising funds, planning and working at community events and other non-emergency activities. Meetings are held the first Thursday of the month at 7:00pm. We welcome your skills and talents to help us behind the scenes.
